Vibrant orange.
GENERAL STYLE:
Nothing short of girlish, that's for certain. She's not too particular in that she chooses a distinctive style to stick to, but if it fits into the general consensus of cute, she'd probably like it.
EXTRAS:
Nothing all that special!
At the last moment their souls sing

deep breath deep B R E A T H POSITIVES:
- Infallibly happy. - Optimistic to a fault. Silver lining? She'll find it. - Strong willed and determined, when she sets her mind to it, damnit, she'll do it. - Loyal and protective, she cares intensely about the well being of those close to her. - Has a strong sense of morality. She's not likely to give into an idea if she feels uneasy about it. - Always willing to lend a hand to a noble cause. - Adaptable. Most are unwilling to accept change, but more often than not, she knows it's futile to fight it, making her rather flexible in new situations.
NEGATIVES:
- Naive. She forgets that not everyone has the best intentions. - Not the quickest mind. Dreyll will have to be reminded of things several times for them to kick in. She gives an A for effort, but that doesn't always gain her an A in the end. - An utterly unstopable clutz. If there's a hole to be stepped in, she will. A priceless vase to be broken? She'll break it. - Grew up fairly spoiled. She's not nasty about it, but sometimes she doesn't realize some things she has to do on her own. - Maybe a bit too easily exciteable. Having been somewhat sheltered, she's easily amazed, and it can get grating...
OVERALL PERSONALITY:
Bubbly is as bubbly does. It's unlikely you'll see Dreyll frowning unless it has to do with critical thinking, and that's more of a pathetic expression as opposed to actual sadness. She can occassionaly be timid when a situation is completely new, but on most occassions she's incredibly outgoing and sociable. Cheerful is probably an understatement, but really, she just wants to make everyone smile. Sometimes, it's quite the task.
CHARACTER TIME PERIOD:
Present.
HISTORY:
Growing up in America, Dreyll had a fairly enviable life. Her family was pretty well off, and well, they genuinely loved each other. Not something most families could boast these days. A mother and father still in love and devoted to each other as well as their daughter, not quite so dime-a-dozen as it might have been some time ago. Dreyll spent most of her spare time with them, though often only her mother. Her father was a scientist, though his main focus had been researching which took him from his family to visit places around the world, but perhaps most often Japan. Dreyll spent the occasional summer overseas, but it had never felt like home. It had always been vacation to her.
Eventually his research took a venture towards field work, and that was were the "fairly enviable" really came into play. She saw her father less and less often, and the phone conversations between him and her mother grew more tense and uncomfortable as time went on. There was a strain that even Dreyll, as naive and innocent as she was, could sense. She never knew details, and she thought it was probably better that way, but she knew it was something to do with what they were researching, and what it led them to discover. That she'd learn first hand, at least.
At the age of 14, as she left school, she was approached by someone claiming to know her father. A sheep to her shepherd, she believed him. He certainly looked like an associate of her father, a nice smile, a gentle voice... as far as she was concerned she had no reason not to go with him. Of course waking up tied to a chair in a dark room was definitely a red flag, but it was too little too late.
She was kept blindfolded and alone for the majority what was nearly a week she was kidnapped. Once more, details were lost to her, and again, she didn't really mind that. It was these sorts of things she figured the less she knew? The better off she was. It wasn't hard to piece together that it had to do with whatever her father was working on, though, and she was told as much.
"There's no reason to be scared, daddy loves you, right?
She wasn't sure whether she should be relieved that she knew as much was true, or feel guilty that important information and likely people would be at risk because of her.
Still to this day she didn't know what had to be done to get her home, but it was done. Deep down, she was sort of glad it had happened, since it brought her dad home for some time, but she would also forever feel guilty for that thought. Especially considering how tense the air was after the incident, everyone on edge. Still, it was nice having her family together.
Shortly after, she was assigned a bodyguard, a dark haired young man--older than herself but still he seemed young--she tried desperately to befriend, but she'd be damned if he wasn't resilient. It was sort of awkward really, having to have an escort when she was out, and was unsettling to her friends. They never said it, but she could tell. As much as she appreciated the protection, and despite his best efforts she did enjoy his company, but it wasn't always convenient.
A few months passed and things finally began to settle into a state of normalcy. Figuring it was safe her parents decided she wouldn't need guarding any longer. She'd grown a bit attached by this point, despite how silly it seemed, having to have someone follow her around for her own safety. She had known it'd come to that though, she couldn't have expected him to stick around any longer than he had to. Honestly, even until the very end she couldn't quite tell if he'd taken to her at all or if he still thought of her as an annoyance he had to put up with...
Being who she was, though, she liked to think she'd made him smile on some occasions...
Slowly but surely things returned to normal, the normal Dreyll had grown to dislike greatly. Missing her father and having to watch her mother scramble around to take care of everything at home without him. It wasn't as if they had ever had to really struggle, but the strain of always being apart was stress that couldn't be easily remedied. That edginess from before seemed to be returning, and she felt uneasy.
In Dreyll's mind, ignorance was bliss, but there had been once that she overheard a conversation while her mother was on the phone, and she decided to listen rather than merely shrug it off and be on her way.
"They can't do this to you, not like before, it's not right."
Her voice held a sadness, almost a sort of desperation, it was probably what kept Dreyll from letting it go.
"You have a family! They know that! They can't just keep you there, you--"
There was a quick frustrated silence.
"You need to leave, you'll find new work! I'll get a job!"
This silence was longer, it literally felt cold. Dreyll felt a tightness in her chest, to this day, she could still recall this very moment, and exactly how she had felt. The quiet went on and on and her mother stiffened in her seat.
"I... understand..."
Her voice was soft now, she sounded like a kicked dog.
"Well... I guess next time we can talk about making arrangements come summer.."
It was then that Dreyll decided to move on. She really didn't want to know. She already regretted eavesdropping, it really brought that black cloud that seemed to be lingering in the distance closer in her mind. She never asked, and her mother never said anything about that phone conversation. She always wore that strong face in front of her daughter, that lovely smile Dreyll had inherited in full. Dreyll might not have been all that bright, but she could tell when she was faking it. But she let it pass, and the two of them played a constant game of charades in hoping to spare the other one any grief.
Months passed by, and Dreyll mostly forgot about that conversation, it was still in her mind, but locked away in favor of happier memories. The school year ended, it was summer vacation, and finally her father was coming home. For the first time since before that phone call.
It wasn't exactly the happy reunion that she had been expecting.
A few days went by normally, or at least, sort of. Dreyll was blissfully unaware for a bit, but time went out and it became obvious there was something they weren't telling her. That was when she found out about the "arrangements come summer"...
She would be shipped off to Japan before the start of the new semester there. Without either of her parents. Initially she wanted to protest, but before she even said a word, she realized there had to be some reason, and that arguing would win her nothing. The frustration was clear on her face, but she didn't say anything at first.
There were reasons, reasons she was fairly certain they couldn't even begin to explain to her. It's likely for your safety, she thought to herself, they're doing this to protect you from something. She knew it, without anything being said. Reigning in her emotions, she took a deep breath and forced a smile.
"Well, that should be fun.."
She could still remember it, she tried not to hold onto the bad memories, but there were a few she couldn't get rid of. Just that one statement had left a bad taste in her mouth. She didn't want to go. Everything she had was here. Her friends, her family... well, heh, her father was in Japan, but he'd still be far from her. She couldn't think of any other time in her life that she had felt more dread. She did what she had to, though. She had to swallow down her uncertainty and just go with it. That was something she had been good at, but she couldn't say honestly that this time wasn't incredibly difficult.
And that was that, off to Iwatodai to finish off schooling. It was one thing to start going to a new school, but in an entirely different country? A whole new culture that she had merely just peaked into? However hectic she thought things had been before, this would be the true start to her adventure...
