Irresponsibly ruthless words fill this town but
Never more, will a painful voice flow by

Those days we spent casually are bidding farewell to us
As we lose those irreplaceable days

Personality:
Minato's neutral state is that of a Noh mask - blank, without any emotion, leaving up to the people conversing with him to guess what's under his mind. He doesn't stand out in the crowd too much - he just looks like this guy with headphones all of the time. But he's a normal person - he can react to things like a normal human, though in a less degree of expression. He is always calm and reserved, allowing him to think clearly even in the most dire of situations. He speaks with minimally, sometimes even preferring body language over words - and when he speaks, he almost always sound polite.
Detatched and distant - that's what Minato is. And yet, there's a contradiction - the one trait that describes him the most doesn't fit in with his other characteristics. That trait is empathy.
Minato's a good listener. If you just need someone to talk to, or help you with something, Minato's the guy to call. He can understand a lot of people, and so he can usually say the right words in order to comfort them - of course, this isn't always good, since people sometimes need to hear things they don't want to hear, but that's not Minato's style. He only speaks at the right times, with few phrases, but you can feel that you can trust him. He's just that kind of guy.
But Minato has his own problems too - let's face it, Minato's life has been an unlucky one. Being an orphan at the age of ten, having a seemingly meaningless existence until the year where you actually die... It's tiring. Minato just wanted to sleep and let everything be over, but now this thing happens.
It's not like he has any other choice now. Maybe for one last time, he's going to help save the world, but it's no longer just for his friends - this time, it's also for himself, so he can finally have his peace.
Timeline:
His last day, while lying on Aigis' lap.
History:
10 years ago before present time, Minato was the sole survivor of a car accident that claimed his parents. Ever since then, he has been transferred to many different schools and places, and once he became a teenager, he started to learn how to live by himself - by that time, he know lives in the dormitories of the specific schools. But, once again, he changes schools, and it continues into a repetitive cycle. Until Iwatodai.
It all starts at April 6. Minato was travelling towards his newest dorm when the time suddenly strikes midnight, and the surroundings around him dramatically change - it turns into some kind of horror movie, with reds and greens around and coffins laid across the street. Power's off, too - even the battery-operated ones. Huh. But Minato walks on, trying to ignore them, and ends up at their dorm. His welcoming was, to say, quite strange - who meets a high-school girl with a gun these days, anyway? The girl is apparently Yukari Takeba, his future classmate and also dormmate. He is also greeted by one of his senpais, Mitsuru Kirijo, the president of the student council. Both girls, right? Apparently the dormitory accepts both male and female students. Another resident is Akihiko Sanada, another senpai of his, and a really good boxer. Presiding over them is Shuji Ikutsuki. Okay, so who are these people, and why did he end up in this dorm? Minato will know the question to this in a few days.
It starts with the Dark Hour - a special hour between midnight of the previous day, and the first second of the next. Only a select few can move freely within the Dark Hour - others are placed inside coffins. Shadows also preside in this hour, attacking the uncoffined humans in it. These victims end up as people in a zombie-like state (no they don't eat brains! but they speak in weird 'zaaaahs' and stare blankly into space). And guess what? Everyone in the dorm can move in the Dark Hour - Minato included! And after getting involved in a Shadow incident, Minato realizes that he is one of the few people among those who can access the Dark Hour - a Persona-user, someone who can use the manifestation of his psyche in order to defeat Shadows. In fact, everyone at the dorm is a Persona-user - minus Ikutsuki, that is. All of them make up the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad of Gekkoukan High School - SEES. Their goal is to investigate the origins of the Dark Hour and the Shadows. Apparently they needed Minato's help as a Persona-user, one that he accepts.
It just happens that once every full moon a big 'boss' Shadow appears - each has the name of the Major Arcana cards, I through XII (Magician, Priestess, etc). Defeating all 12 of them is SEES' main objective - defeating them would erase the Dark Hour, says Ikutsuki. It's tough work, which is why getting recruits is good. Through time, they get Junpei Iori, Yukari and Minato's class clown classmate, Fuuka Yamagishi, a timid girl with the ability to analyze Shadows, Koromaru, a loyal and very intelligent dog (yes, dogs have Personas, too!), Aigis, an anti-Shadow weapon, Ken Amada, a very mature grade-school boy, and Shinjiro Aragaki, a former member of SEES and a good friend of Akihiko's (he returned later on). However, there are also Persona-users that are against them - three of them form Strega, who carries out revenge requests during the Dark Hour. SEES has to fight against them sometimes.
Yep, Minato has to handle that while balancing his school and social life. And that's not counting Pharos, a young boy who speaks to him from time to time, and apparently exists in his mind! Poor boy.
And then, after defeating the Fortune and the Strength, a plot twist happens! Apparently Ken joined the SEES with a motive - revenge. Years ago her mother was killed by an uncontrollable Persona. And that Persona-user is none other than Shinjiro. Ken joined so he could kill Shinjiro with his own hands. But Shinjiro isn't really a bad person - in fact, he feels guilty about it and even allows Ken to kill him, forcing the kid to have second thoughts. But Jin, the leader of Strega, appears, and then kills Shinjiro. It was SEES' first casualty. With his will, SEES defeats the final Shadow, and the Dark Hour, once and for all. At that same day, Pharos says farewell, living Minato with the ability to create the Thanatos Persona.
The end? No. Ikutsuki turns out to be a bastard! That thing about the Dark Hour disappearing? Not true. Defeating those Shadows merges them, melding then into the real actual, big bad boss Shadow - 'Death'. What does Death do? He summons Nyx, and thus starts the end of the world! So, the Dark Hour still appears there, and Ikutsuki reprogramms Aigis in order to sacrifice the Persona-users to Nyx, and kills Mitsuru's father. However, Aigis was able to break the program installed into her, and so, with his plans failed, Ikutsuki commits suicide.
Wow. They need a break. And a break did come, in the form of one Ryoji Mochizuki. He bonded well with the SEES members (minus Aigis), and he was able to, unknowingly, dullen the pain of the past events. The Kyoto field trip was good for their minds as well - if not for a certain incident regarding hot springs and Mitsuru's executions. Oh well.
Unfortunately, not everything ends well in SMT series. Ryoji, as it turns out, is the very incarnation of Death that lived inside Minato for all these years, and now it is his time to fullfill his destiny of... well, ending the world. Ryoji didn't want his friends to suffer knowing their fate, so he gave them a proposition - to kill him. Minato and SEES, however, couldn't, and went to a single conclusion - they were going to stop the end of the world, no matter what it takes.
Ryoji disappears, and a month later, the end of the world occurs. It's not fun, even when you see the last of Strega, because even after fighting some grueling two-hour boss fight (no offense, Ryoji, but man your avatar form is annoying), Nyx appears and starts to destroy the world anyway. Minato had no other choice - with the power of all the social links he created, he reaches the World arcana and his ultimate Persona, Messiah - and with it, he creates the Great Seal in order to stop the Fall.
He succeeds, but his last few months were painful - no one remembered what happened, only him. It was frustrating - he wanted to be alone, he wanted to lay off his head and go to an eternal sleep. Fortunately, however, before he does, he finds his friends finally remembering what happened, and closes his eyes with a smile, knowing that their memories of him will always stay with them.
But then, all of a sudden, he finds himself somewhere, distraught. There was no seal, no darkness - just some ordinary scenery.
Minato, for some reason, was not yet dead.
I will find it, that precious thing that I lost
