OVERALL PERSONALITY: At first glance, Shinjiro's one of those thugs that most people would shy away from-- he's gruff, aloof, and impatient. He doesn't have time for your petty crap. Beneath that is just another teddy bear. Sort of. To the members of SEES (arguably his only friends), he's more than patient and offers insight to his juniors. Fuuka's a lost case though, with her cooking... In particular, he likes Koromaru. Might be a dog thing. He cares a lot for his friends, Akihiko and Mitsuru in particular (hell, he only joined SEES in the first place because Aki was gung-ho about it!). He's also very attached to Minako, having formed a relationship with her before the 4th... Outside of being a delinquent hobo and Persona user, Shinjiro's passion lies in cooking, and he's a marvelous chef. He's subscribed to dozens of cooking catalogs and never misses his favorite cooking shows. As a tsundere, he of course tries to hide his obsession, but his cover was bungled through the efforts of Koromaru and Aigis. There's some sort of camaraderie between Shinjiro and Kaitou Nagano, both being foul-mouthed scamps from the same time period (one obscure, one infamous). The two acknowledge each other's turmoil and have formed a bond of trust. CHARACTER TIME PERIOD: Persona 3 Portable Timelines (with Minako). The laste date he remembers is October 4th. HISTORY: Shinjiro grew up as an orphan around Akihiko and Miki Sanada-- they were best buddies until the orphanage burned down and Miki died. Damn. At some point before high school, both he and Akihiko awakened their Potential and along with Mitsuru Kirijo, founded SEES. However, in one of their earlier missions, Shinjiro's Persona, Castor, went berserk, and a civilian who had not Transmogrified died in the process. It just so happened that this civilian was Ken Amada's mother, and the boy would harbor a deep hatred for Shinjiro that continued all the way to the day of his death. Yeah. That's right. This is P3P Minako's Shinji, and he died. After the accident, Shinjiro left SEES immediately, putting a strain on his friendship with Akihiko-- the latter pumped more protein drinks and trained to become stronger while throwing Take Thats at his friend for running away from his problems. Even after the incident, however, Castor continued to rage against his User, and Shinjiro began associating with Strega to obtain suppressant drugs, knowing full well that their side effects were fatal. Following the summer trip to Yakushima, Shinjiro was approached by Akihiko and Minako, who attempted to convince him to join SEES. It was not until they mentioned that Ken Amada had joined (with intent to avenge his mother) that he agreed to their terms. After joining SEES once more, Shinji began to grow close to Minako.. (spoiler spoiler blah blah can you believe I actually don't remember the contents of their Social Link?), and on the 30th of September, became lovers against his advice. "You two got together? That won't end well." Those were the words of Kaitou Nagano on October 3rd, 2009. "I know. But you can only deny your feelings for so long." "Heh. Her sense of humor's infected you." "...This is probably going to be our last meeting." "And why is that?" "Just a hunch. Here." "...?" Kaitou wasn't sure what the hell Shinji was talking about, but his hand flew out to catch a pocket watch as the other turned away. "Find Akihiko Sanada tomorrow during lunch and give him that. Tell him not to worry about me." With that he left the Midnight Reaper to his devices. If only he knew that Kaitou would never see October 4th himself. Gunshots weren't as explosive as he'd thought. At least, not the sound of them. The bullets in his body, on the other hand... They had already blown through his insides. Shinji knew his time was up. How ironic for him to defend his would-be killer... Maybe Ken would stray away from his path now. But for Minako... He still remembers the agony that had stricken her expression to this day... While they shared a mother, Zeus fathered Polydeuces and Castor was born from a mortal man, Tyndareus. SUMMONING: Evoker, but he can also summon naturally. Perhaps because of his legitimate death in his world, his disease has subsided, and he no longer needs Strega's drugs. HIGH AFFINITY: Pfft, on a Hierophant? Naaaaahhhhh. LOW AFFINITY: See above. It's a bit strained with Ken Amada, though. He didn't live to see if he'd be forgiven or not.
