Irresponsibly ruthless words fill this town but
Never more, will a painful voice flow by
I hate everyone.
All the people on the street,
I hate you all.
and the people that I meet,
I hate you all.
and the people that I know.
I hate you all.
and the people that I don‘t,
I HATE YOU ALL!
Those days we spent casually are bidding farewell to us
As we lose those irreplaceable days

First and Last:
Yasuo Hanaishi
Known as:
His Mother occasionally refers to him as "Ya-chan". Being the insecure teenage boy he is, he hates the nickname.
I have lived:
Fourteen, December 18th
I am:
Male
My preference?:
He hates everyone equally.
I work as:
Unemployed Junior-High Student
I affiliate with:
Civilians (Possibly a Persona-user in the future.)
The rain hides the sun, stealing away its light
I am troubled as I lost what I believed in

Height:
5'4
Weight:
119 lbs.
Hair:
Medium length, thick, choppy and black. Yasuo doesn't bother fussing about with it and it shows. While he doesn't look like he has perpetual bed-head, it isn‘t as neat as it could be.
Eyes:
A darker green than most. They are almost always narrowed in annoyance at someone or something and -much to his chagrin- they're rather large, making him look doe-eyed and young when he isn't glaring.
General Style:
Yasuo could really care less what other people think of him and if he could, would proudly waltz out into public looking like a basement-dwelling otaku. Luckily, Taiyou is very much against that fashion choice and often gives the final say on what is appropriate to leave the house in. Even so, Yasuo doesn't spend much time on his appearance. Jeans and sneakers are outfit staples, temperature decides the rest. He absolutely refuses to wear anything that is short enough to expose his prosethic leg.
Extras:
Yasuo always makes a point to carry a bag with him, doesn't matter what kind (he's taken his Mom's purse a couple of times). It makes carrying his medicine slightly less awkward.
I won’t forget those days that I spent with everyone precious to me
Never more, will I be alone even in the darkness

Positives:
- Independent (Well, moving towards this would be more accurate.)
- Shrewd, there is little he can't puzzle out.
- He's a very determined little guy, once he sets his mind on something there is little that can tear him away. For better or for worse.
- Loyal
- Deep down, not a bad kid.
Negatives:
- Easily irritated, even little things like smacking lips or use of filler words such as "like" or "um" can set him off.
- Stubborn
- A compulsive liar because: "why tell the truth to anyone if you can't trust them?"
- Two-faced
- Highly suspicious of everyone and everything. Yasuo has convinced himself that no one does anything out of sheer goodness and that there is always an ulterior motive.
Overall Personality:
Yasuo is not a pleasant kid. He isn’t normally someone who actively seeks out conversation with other people, preferring the company of his tarantula to most other people. But, when he does interact with people he isn’t exactly friendly conversation. Yasuo speaks his mind bluntly and without apology. If there was ever a walking example of “misery loves company”, it would be Yasuo. He enjoys getting reactions out of people the way others’ love cake. Add to this that fact that he has a tendency to be a complete and utter liar and you have a rather un-likeable young man. But, his outwardly cold attitude is merely a cover-up to protect the more fragile part of his mind. Yasuo is easily influenced and gullible, if he comes to trust someone, he’ll trust them completely. Anyone who seems to “understand” or act in a way he wishes to emulate is idolized and followed to an almost obsessive degree. Yasuo puts up the front of an apathetic tormenter, when in reality he is only lashing out at others because he can’t figure out how to work around and come to terms with his own personal weaknesses.
Character Time Period:
The present time is here and now.
History:
Disclaimer: Just as a warning, this might be triggering for people who have been in boat-related accidents or who have gone through amputation.
Yasuo was born on a chilly December morning into a very cozy family of three. Being an only child -and being an energetic child - he grew very close to his equally active parents. At school he was an average student, not excelling in anything but not failing either. But, it was clear to all his teachers’ that his passions lay outside at sea rather than in any classroom. Taiyou, who worked as a swim-coach and Taro who had grown up in a small port town and lived most of his life as shipmaster were all too happy to encourage this passion. The only damper on Yasuo’s childhood was in the form of a group of bullies who teased him for his short stature, but they were more a nuisance than an actual threat and Yasuo cheerily shrugged their comments off.
-and so life went on this way: promises of a bright future filled with endless opportunities were made. But, the one promise that always stuck out to Yasuo was a promise his Father made; When he was old enough, he would get to go sailing with his Dad on one of the big ships. Then, at the age of twelve, the chance finally came. The whole family had been planning a vacation in one of the larger port cities’ and Taro had managed to get permission to take Yasuo aboard a ferry that Taro had worked on when he was a young man. When the day finally came, Taiyou - who wanted to meet up with an old friend from high school - opted to stay behind while Father and Son went aboard. The ship was everything that Yasuo had imagined and more and his Father’s old co-workers enthusiastically showed him every nook and cranny.
No one suspected anything bad could possibly happen. It was too nice a day: the sky was too bright, the waves were too calm. The crew was untouchable in their euphoria, for what great being could allow tragedy to happen on such a fine day?
No one knew how it happened. The sheer fact it did still baffles experts in oceanography and sailing alike. But, the simple fact is that it did happen. On that beautiful summer day, a returning cargo ship lost control and collided violently with the passenger ferry. Yasuo and the other passengers’ who had been sitting in the waiting area were crushed under a literal mountain of debris and glass. The shock of impact caused Yasuo to pass out completely.
When he finally awoke his reaction was exactly as the nurses had expected. Frantic questioning about why he couldn‘t feel his right leg and where his parents’ were. Fearing for his safety and sanity, the nurses sedated him and allowed him to fall back asleep. When he woke up the second time, the workers decided it would be best to let him know what had happened. As kindly as she could, a nurse explained that when they had found Yasuo his right leg had already been almost completely severed from his body and it was a miracle he had been found alive. The amputation had been “completely necessary and vital” to saving his life. Still unable to fully comprehend the events that had transpired, Yasuo fell into a pattern to of asking to see his parents‘, falling eerily silent and then asking for his parents‘ again. A little while later, Taiyou was allowed into the hospital to see Yasuo. She tearfully explained that the search teams hadn’t been able to find Taro. Yasuo begged to be allowed to stay with his Mother and despite being against regulations, the nurses relent and let Taiyo stay overnight at the hospital.
A week later, Taiyou was informed by a nurse that they had been added to a list for transfer to a hospital closer to their home, but the news that Taro’s body had been found in the wreckage made the prospect of finally being able to go home seem insignificant to Yasuo.
The day of transfer came, followed by close to a month in a hospital and then, Yasuo was finally released from his ward and given permission to go home for a few days. Despite Taiyou’s best efforts to get him to talk to her or do something physical, Yasuo slept away his first few days back from the hospital, having convinced himself in a drugged stupor that he could sleep away the memories of the wreck.
When he finally was well enough to go back to school, Yasuo tried desperately to keep up a false image of hopefulness and recovery. But, between the pain of rehabilitation therapy, learning how to walk with a prosthetic limb and the sudden change in his classmates attitude, this image fell apart. The baseball game’s he had used to pour his heart into he was now stuck sitting and watching. All the former teasing and joking suddenly stopped and Yasuo’s friends and enemies began treating him with the utmost care, as if he was going to break from a joke or push. Unable to channel his anger, fear and frustration into anything, Yasuo kept his thoughts bottled up. Allowing cynicism and spite to grow inside his young mind. The more his cynicism grew, the more Taiyou and his friend‘s began to worry and as a result treat him more delicatly. Slowly, Yasuo broke contact with all of his old friends and eventually broke his ties with his own Mother.
Currently, he lives the life of an “almost-delinquent”, skipping school in favour of hiding out in his home and trying to avoid his Mother.
I will find it, that precious thing that I lost
Never more, because I’m sure your voice will guide me

Notes:
Well, this was incredibly challenging to write because of rather obvious reasons. Regardless, I really like the guy and would love to see him have a happy ending of some kind.
I listened to this song a lot and other Silent Hill songs in general while writting, but "Letter from the Lost Days" has kind of become his theme for me.
