HISTORY: Before her accident in early March, Sei was a delinquent, and was the total opposite of what she is now. She went out every night and eventually found herself antagonizing another young teenage delinquent, forming an unlikely bond with him in the process. Then it happened. A bus driver had lost control of his vehicle when coming up to a red light at around midnight and wound up colliding with the car that Sei and her parents happened to be in, hitting the driver's side. Sei was thrown forward and she hit her head on the seat immediately in front of her fracturing the side of her eye ridge as the car rolled from the impact. She was rendered unconscious immediately, and remained in a coma for weeks, during which time her father was said to have died from his injuries. When she awoke, she knew nothing. Why she hurt, where she was, who she was... She couldn't remember a thing. She spent several days recouperating, and learning who, as well as when and where, she was and then was allowed out of bed to wander around. She is still recovering in the hospital and hasn't been released yet due to concerns of mental wellness, even though her mother, whom had recovered during her coma, insisted that she could take care of her if they'd only release her. However, despite this, she has still been allowed outside, providing she remained on the grounds. Sei, liking the outdoors more than the inside of her room, immediately took to daily walks, and occasionally naps, outside. It was during one outing, after she had decided to sit down on a bench, that she met a young man, whom she called "Daitorin". He expressed concern about her being a patient sitting outside, but she quickly told him that it was all right. The doctors and nurses had given up on her a long time ago, after all, and she never pushed herself too hard. The moment she got tired, they knew she would curl up and fall asleep somewhere, so it was only a matter of time before someone would find her and carry her back to her bed. Unfortunately for them, her meeting with the young man from outside only further kindled her interest in the outdoors and prompted her to wander farther and farther away from the hospital with each outing... She is almost always with her head a million miles up into space, imagining some obscure thing she had thought of a short while before. Another trait she shares with the arcana is that she's not exactly what she seems. She may seem innocent and childish, but she has moments where she is intelligent and mature, as if to spite any preconcieved assumptions people could have made. In short, she is daydreamy, imaginative, and bears an air of illusion and mystery, all of which are part of the Moon arcana. PERSONA: Ataegina looks like this, minus the boat Ataegina, a Lusitanian lunar goddess whose name means "reborn" (which is derived from the Celtic roots atte- and geno-), represents the fact that Sei has recently awoken a new and completely different person than she had been before. As if she had been "reborn", her personality is a complete polar opposite than how it had been before, like she had been given a new slate after her accident. Certain epigraphs from the Badajoz region associate the goddess Ataegina with Persephone or Proserpina, making her a goddess presiding over Spring, thus echoing the "reborn" meaning of the name. This is significant to Sei, aside from the fact that she was given a second chance, or a "rebirth" into a new person, because the Spring is associated with young growth, as many animals reproduce in the spring, signifying Sei's seeming innocence and childishness. Ataegina is also said to have been a goddess of healing, signifying that Sei is only still recovering from her injuries.
