AGE & BIRTHDATE: Twenty-three; April 6th GENDER: Female SEXUALITY: Pansexual OCCUPATION: She is a second-year nursing student and works part time at second-hang clothing store called “Closet Child”.[/style] [atrb=cellPadding,5,true][atrb=style, background: #777777; border-radius:0px 0px 15px 0px; -moz-border-radius:0px 0px 15px 0px;][style= color: #000000; width: 385px; height: 124px; overflow-y:scroll;]PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Sayori stands at the slightly above-average height of 5’6 and appears rather slim, but is actually fairly toned. Her hair is thick, slightly wavy and dyed a honey blonde. Unless at the hospital ( where she wears regulation scrubs) she can be seen wearing various bohemian-style outfits with floral or nature motifs. That being said, she’s hardly seen out of something extremely extravagant due to her fairly active lifestyle. Sayori sports a various but quickly healing scars along her arms and legs from her fighting days, but the most noticeable “scar” she carries from that time is her slightly crooked nose (she broke it twice and it just never healed properly). [/style] [atrb=cellPadding,5,true][atrb=style, background: #777777; border-radius:0px 0px 15px 0px; -moz-border-radius:0px 0px 15px 0px;][style= color: #000000; width: 385px; height: 124px; overflow-y:scroll;] POSITIVES: ↑ Her friendliness can’t be understated. If people were factories she’d be shipping out sunshine and smiles all day. ↑ Accepting. It doesn’t matter where you’ve come from, what you do or why you do things, chances are Sayori will find something likeable about you and want to be around you. No social leper is safe! ↑ While not a natural mediator Sayori tries incredibly hard to avoid even small verbal conflict. ↑ In spite of all the trials and tribulations, Sayori is very relaxed and even when faced with something potentially disturbing and dangerous can keep a level-head. However, like all things, this calmness has it’s limitations. ↑ Very few keep a code of honesty like Sayori’s. NEGATIVES: ↓ Overbearing. She is connected to the ultimate mother goddess, it kind of comes with the territory. ↓ Overly casual with people - in speech and treatment-even if she doesn’t know them that well. She tends to get invasive with people’s personal boundaries and can’t respect or understand a person’s need for their own space. ↓ Her over protectiveness can be a little…extreme and frankly, illegal. If you hurt someone she’s close too then chances are you’re going to have a very angry talking to at the end of a switch blade. ↓ Her dark sense of humor isn’t exactly a negative trait, more of an oddity. She’s not desensitized to violence, but finds extreme violence and stereotypical “horror” tropes in media to be kind of hilarious. Mainly because she kind of grew up with the morbid and strange being familiar and partially because she has a few screws loose. Anyone who can laugh through the car ending of Silent Hill 2 is at least a bit of an odd duck. ↓ While avoiding outbursts and anger, Sayori can be quite snippy when frustrated or trying to get her point across. If she believes herself to be in the moral right or someone has crosses the line and she can’t mediate then she’ll bicker, argue and make snide comments. It’s a facet of her personality that appears infrequently, but it one of the few remaining constants from her delinquent days that just stuck with her. OVERALL PERSONALITY: Sayori's moved past her delinquent days and is getting on with her life. She has reached a point in her life were she is comfortable with her strangeness and has a pretty good understanding of her flaws and strengths. But, even with this growth she still struggles with bad habits from the past, impulses drilled into her and a guilt that she has never quite let go . Due to her odd behaviour and violent past many of her peers still view her as a child, “slow” or beneath them. But, despite this Sayori still maintains a friendly and positive outward outlook. She is sociable and while her crowd is anything but ordinary and hardly her own age, she feels fulfilled living with it. But while the positive outweigh the negatives she still has many deeply routed feelings of self doubt. Her desire and obsession with redemption for her past actions on top of being one of the few adult persona-users amongst a sea of children makes her want to push the limits of her physical and mental capabilities and ignore every warning sign or concerned voice. At her best Sayori is a loyal and trustworthy friend who will help you through the worst of times, but at her worst she is a extremist who believes her way is best. HISTORY: Sayori was born on April 16th into a rather eccentric family of creative people who had a strange fascination with all things supernatural. Her mother was a small-town kimono fabric designer and her father the sole heir of a toy shop that had been around since the 1940s. In short, two very creative individuals and eccentric even by the standards of the Kobayashi family. Sayori, as was to be expected, began growing up to be quite like them. She was a friendly, active and had and intense curiosity about people and things that drove her to explore everything in the small suburban niche of Osaka they lived in. When she was around five, her younger brother Teruo was born and Sayori happily took up the role of big sister. Both bright-eyed girl and slobbering little boy were inseparable friends as she taught him the family ways of fearing and seeing the unseen. Around when she was seven, her mother received recognition for one of her designs and was offered a job at a very influential and old kimono manufacturer. So, seeking better opportunities the family packed up and moved into deep-city Kyoto. Not quite immediately, but shortly after the move was apparent that the family was not and would probably never fit in. Sayori’s mother was well received and well respected but her father’s profession and involvement with toys was whispered about and frowned upon by their traditionalist neighbours. Teruo, who had always been a quite and unassuming child, was ignored and Sayori who had always been very vocal about the families odd beliefs and touchy-feely even with strangers was constantly scolded and told to “smarten up”. School was a mixed bag, the other children were a mixture of frightened and curious about the two strange children who spoke of ghosts as if they were friends and collected the oddest things. When applications to junior-high school came around Sayori suffering quite badly from the loneliness and expectations that had suddenly been thrust upon her. A combination of her depression and her families poor reputation meant that the only schools she got into were low-tier and notorious for housing delinquents. Along with the heat that accompanied the break before school, Sayori’s sadness began to fester and evolve into a deep and passionate anger. Being so young and having had no experience with such an emotion, she became irritable and much more physically violent. Even her younger brother whom she had taken it upon herself to look after was snapped at with alarming frequency. By the time the school year rolled around she was had unknowingly made herself quite ready to face the more unscrupulous characters at her school. As expected from a less savoury school, Sayori’s first day was an absolute mess. Near the end of the day she was jumped by a group of girls, but seeing how angry she was and how she channelled that into fighting back, her senior and the leader of the gang adopted the “fire-eyes who talked funny” into their little band. The group known as the “Reds” was one of the more powerful of the school’s mix of cliques. Sayori’s anger at everyone and the lack of social interaction previously drove her straight into the open arms of the Reds, these were people who understood her were going to help her make people pay for what they had done to her. After a few days of training she was inducted into the group after stealing a baseball bat and offered their signature red bandana. Her parents were blind to her activities at first, but as time wore on it became increasingly apparent that their daughter involved in something terrible. When Teruo caught her smoking outside they attempted to keep her housebound and grounded, but Sayori was going to have none of that. In the middle of the night she took off for the gangs hideaway and all together stopped going to school. While her family desperately searched for her, Sayori became more deeply involved in the more unscrupulous and older characters of the gang. Seeing as she had essentially dropped out of school, she was involved in a plan to hijack a car and sell in on the black market. A ridiculous plan, but Sayori was much too young and much too sure of her own abilities to question it. The plan started off and went surprisingly smoothly for a by-the-seat plan put together by a bunch of drop outs. Then, there was a mishap with a gun and one of the kids was shot. As everyone panicked, the leader of the operation gave everyone a choice; the kid was dead to them and so would you if you stayed, if you left with them you’d get a cut of the deal and everyone would forget about it. Sayori stayed behind with a her bleeding friend and for the first time in about a year, called home. After being rushed to the hospital it became pretty apparent that they had taken to long to get treatment, by the morning the kid had died and Sayori had sworn off ever involving herself with the gang again. Her parents both frustrated, terrified and relieved by this turn of events pulled her out of school and for their own piece of mind and Sayori’s safety moved back to Osaka. Being a year older then her classmates and still sporting scars from the trials back in Kyoto made the initial adjustment back to school difficult, but Sayori managed. She was required to do community service for a bunch of small crimes she ended up confessing too, but she worked hard, was pleasant and seemed genuinely interested in getting better so her supervisors were kind to her. In senior high school she managed to befriend a small group of slightly odd individuals with various artistic hobbies and fell into her own niche. She graduated with the single-minded pursuit of becoming a nurse. Sayori applied to many schools and ended up getting accepted to one nearby Iwatodai. With well-wishes from her family she moved out to the area and began going to school and working. She gets strange vibes from the city people around her seem to be feeling more skittish then usual. But, that’s probably just her imagining things. [/style] |

Sayori’s family has always had a strong tie to the supernatural and growing up in that environment, Sayori’s beliefs were pretty strongly influenced by the tendency to include the unexplained and spiritual into the why and how of things and how they work. She herself has an air of strangeness, what with her uncanny ability to read people. At this point in her life Sayori has already through a major change and come out relatively successful, but her future from now on is quite open-ended and filled with possibilities. Something that is both exhilarating and terrifying, tying into the creative aspect of the arcana ( her wide array of plans and projects) and the uncertainty (whether or not she’ll be able keep up living on the straight and narrow.). PERSONA: Parvati - Parvati is a goddess in Hinduism that is most commonly listed as the mother of humans and the patron of children, but is associated with a lot more then just that. Not only is Parvati a goddess in her own right, but she is also considered to be a form of the “great goddess“ Lakia who gave birth to the universe. Her devotion to her husband Shiva is considered in Hinduism to be an example of what “true love” and the most desirable qualities in a spouse; Parvati’s pre-reincarnation form Sati was burned to death in a fire for her devotion to Shiva and she considered it her great duty to ascend and become Shiva’s wife again so she could open his mind the world and obtain his third eye. While normally a peaceful Goddess, Parvati has been depicted morphing into a violent goddess named Durga and fighting to protect people. In one of the legends it is said Parvati was so angered by her fellow God’s talk of war she morphed into Durga and challenged them all to face her. Parvati’s closeness to children, association with feminine maternal and life parallels Sayori’s love of children, her fierce protectiveness of those around her and her desire to join the medical field and save lives. While her desire to rehabilitate isn’t tied to a love interest, she attempts to befriend the anti-social or “undesirables” of society and encourage them to seek happiness and create healthier lifestyles. Parvati, much like Sayori avoids conflict and tries to medicate, but can become violent when peace of the safety of others are threatened.
