Personality:
Arata is a focused individual who’s never given himself much time for friends or socializing. He is very hard on himself and strives to be the best he can be, sacrificing outer kindness along the way. However, he wouldn’t push someone else to the side to achieve his own dreams. He comes across as cold and to a large extent he is, not caring to get involved in personal matters, but when something does strike him personally, he takes it to heart and completely loses his cool.
Arata is also hot-headed. While he is usually patient and maintains his composure - an art which he has practiced for quite some time - if his buttons are pushed correctly, he’ll blow up in a fit of shouting. Fortunately, this rarely happens as very few people know how to push his buttons.
Always needing to keep himself busy, Arata occupies a lot of his time with studying, recreational reading, gardening, and woodworking. He especially likes building things, a trait he picked up from his father. Both of his parents are landscape artists, and since he is on good terms with both of them he enjoys doing what they do - as a hobby. He is still unsure of what he wants to do with his life after high school.

When Hiraku Fukuzawa met Gladys “Shinobu” Mirata it was a match made in Heaven. The half-Japanese half-Welsh woman officially changed her first name before the two were married. They began a happy life together as husband and wife in the same occupation - as landscape artists. Then, a few years down the road, a baby boy came along. The couple couldn’t have been happier.
Arata Fukuzawa was born into a very loving family, not the highest commonality for children living in Japan. His parents were in love with their work, in love with each other, and very doting. Arata was always happy, but during the first part of his life he was home-schooled, and very sheltered from the outside world.
His first defining encounter with other children came when his family was helping to renovate the home of another family who were friends of theirs. They had a son around Arata’s age - Yuudai Susumu- so they brought Arata along thinking the two could play. As Arata looked around for the other boy,Yuudai snuck up behind him and tackled him, biting him on the neck and leaving a scar that Arata would keep forever.
Despite their frightening first meeting, the two eventually - and somewhat grudingly - became friends. Although Arata kept largely to himself in school, Yuudai was always there picking on him and playing with Arata’s temper. Arata ignored it as best he could, or would respond with angry outbursts that got him in trouble. He eventually learned that this wasYuudai’s strange way of showing friendly affection, and learned to accept it. The two have been close friends ever since.
In jr. high Arata was on the student council, feeling that the school needed a change. He was disappointed when he learned that the group of students didn’t have very much power, though, and after jr. high was over he never bothered running again. He is still an advocate for a lot of student-related causes, but whatever he does now he does largely on his own.
